1968 Redux: Robert Kennedy’s challenge to Biden means Newsom enters the race
Neither Biden nor Trump will be on the ticket in November 2024
The parlor game for the last few months has been the upcoming DeSantis-Trump battle for the Republican nomination. That will indeed be a major battle, and my opinion is clear: DeSantis is likely to crush Trump in the debates. More on that later in this article.
What has gotten almost zero attention is the state of the Democrat Party and its primary. Here is how I think it will play out.
Channeling his father from 1968, Robert Kennedy Jr has launched his bid for the nomination against his own sitting President. In 1968 the President was Lyndon Johnson, and now it is Joe Biden. The situation is almost identical.
In 1968, the US was bogged down in an increasingly unpopular war in Vietnam. Today, the US is escalating a conflict in Ukraine with a potential nuclear war against Russia on the horizon, in which over 300 million Americans would likely die in less than 10 minutes. Good job, President Biden! Great success.
Enter RFK Jr
With Robert Kennedy Jr entering the Democrat Party race, preparations must be made to have Biden debate Kennedy starting no later than January 2024, and more likely a bit earlier. Biden cannot decline these debates because he would be accused of being unable to beat Kennedy in a debate, and therefore be even less likely to stand a chance against beating Florida Governor DeSantis in the Fall 2024 Presidential debates.
If Biden can’t or won’t win a debate against Kennedy, who is 69 years old, he sure won’t stand a chance against the much younger and cognitively acute DeSantis. So therefore, Biden must debate Kennedy or be laughed out of the room by the American public.
Enter Gavin Newsom
Now that Robert Kennedy has entered the race, it gives license to California Governor Gavin Newsom to also enter the Democrat primary. You can smell Newsom’s desire to kick Biden to the curb from a mile away. He is just waiting for an excuse. Chomping at the bit!
Newsom wants to do to Biden what Robert Kennedy’s father did to LBJ in 1968. The poetic justice is that it is RFK Jr who beat him to the starting gate this time. Whoops.
Nevermind. Newsom is counting on pushing Kennedy to the side. For Newsom, RFK Jr entering the race does provide the ideal excuse to hurry up and do it himself. Therefore, expect Newsom to enter the race within a few short months from now.
The Democrat Debate Stage in January 2024
We can now start to envision what the Democrat Party debate stage will look like exiting 2023 and going into the January 2024 primary season. I asked the question on Twitter today:
Who will be on stage for the Democrat Party primary debates?
Biden
Robert Kennedy
Gavin Newsom
A few others
Forget DeSantis vs Trump. It is pretty clear that The Republican Party won’t nominate Trump again, because Trump in 2020 became most known for his extreme socialist policies:
Pushing the poorly tested vaccines
Dr Fauci
15 days to slow the spread
Introducing universal unverified mail-in voting
Kim K and Van Jones inspired “criminal justice reform”
Runaway government spending
Stimmy checks to pay people to sit at home and do nothing, pure communism
Begging the US Federal Reserve to cut interest rates via money-printing
Complaining about Governor Kemp opening up too early in May 2020
Criticizing Sweden for having zero restrictions, zero lockdowns in 2020
Rather, the surprising 2024 primary debate action will all happen in the Democrat Party primary debates. Joe Biden, who seems to hardly know what his own name is, let alone where or what he is, will attempt to defend going to World War 3 in Ukraine and injecting a majority of the population with foreign substances, will first have to debate Robert Kennedy. That issue was settled this week.
Then, Gavin Newsom will enter the equation and make the claim that he is the standard bearer for America’s socialist future, sort of like Stalin taking over after Lenin, or Chrustchev taking over after Stalin. Or Brezhnev taking over after Chrustchev. Maybe Andropov taking over after Brezhnev. Or Constantin Chernenko taking over after Andropov. You get the point: Newsom carries more weight as a militant communist than RFK Jr does these days. As a result, Newsom will likely win this power battle.
Biden drops out of the race soon
Biden will do, no later than March 2024 and likely a bit earlier, exactly what President Lyndon Johnson did in the Spring of 1968: Announce that he is not standing for renomination. He will retire at the end of this term.
As such, as this is likely to happen sooner rather than later -- not waiting until a March 2024 drop-dead date -- it will open the floodgates for a full Democrat field. Kamala Harris will be a candidate, and she will be laughed off the stage. Maybe Michelle Obama will become the new star, I mean why not? Hillary is always there, waiting in the wings, in case all the others should collectively succumb in a plane “accident.”
But the dude who is most spring-loaded to win the Democrat nomination in 2024 is Gavin Newsom. Forget his disastrous record in California and his vision of turning the US into the USSR of the 1970s -- he simply has the greatest motivation, with the saliva practically running down his mouth and spilling onto his shirt. All that’s left is for him to remove his shoe and start banging it against the podium, just like Chruschev at The United Nations in 1960:
“Your children will grow up under communism” -- this will be Newsom’s battle-cry in 2024 just like it was for Nikita Cruschev in 1960.
The Grand Finale: DeSantis vs Newsom
Barring a set of mysterious airplane accidents after which Hillary would remain the only Democrat candidate standing, or a Deep State rigging to clear the field for Michelle Obama, Gavin Newsom will be the Democrat candidate to try to explain to the American people why communism is the brightest future, in a debate against Ron DeSantis. I cannot predict how the outcome of that race will end. Maybe the American people wants communism, or maybe the ballot boxes are even more rigged than they were in 2020. This question is too difficult to answer right now.
But this much is clear: Biden won’t be on the ticket in November 2024, and neither will Trump. RFK Jr just opened the floodgates on the Democrat side, and the next move on the chessboard is likely that Gavin Newsom steps up to challenge Biden, who then bows out rather than having to debate anyone in the Democrat Primary.
Wow! Well said Anton. I wasn't with you when you said Trump would not be the nominee. But after you listed the reasons why not, I am with you. I was very critical of those same reasons when they happened. Excellent article. Jonesy
Maybe, mainstream Democrats are very loyal to the Party, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think no sitting President has ever survived a seriously contested primary and then gone on to win reelection. So, either they'll dispense with Biden behind closed doors or they'll line up behind him.
