Tucker Carlson is hosting some blockbuster interviews on Twitter these days. The ones with Tristan Tate and Viktor Orban were particularly interesting. I didn’t watch the one with former President Don Trump yet, for fear of throwing up. I’ll get to it at some point when I’m near a toilet, however.
As of this writing, September 2, the most recent episode in Tucker Carlson’s interview series was David Portnoy of Barstool. I confess that I had never even heard of Portnoy or his company before April 2020, probably because I have zero interest in sports or sports-betting.
In the years that followed, however, I did notice that Portnoy was unfairly accused in the media, so when this interview was posted I saw it fit to watch. Maybe it was going to be as interesting as the one with Tristan Tate. Well, it wasn’t -- except for one crucial nugget that tells us more about Tucker Carlson than David Portnoy.
Here is the link to the interview -- YouTube is better for watching than Twitter itself:
It’s a 50 minute interview but it’s the last 3 that are of interest here. Portnoy says that Biden and Trump are both too old [to be President]. Tucker then comments that he agrees 100%.
Wait, what?
Yes, you may now be wondering why this isn’t all over the news. For Tucker to basically dis-endorse Trump, is a big deal -- especially since this interview took place a mere week after Tucker’s softball interview with Trump that got the supposed record number of “views” (someone scrolled by the post on Twitter, yawn).
Yes, I know -- Tucker has never actually endorsed Trump. But one may get the impression that, in part because of all the help Tucker has given Trump recently including scheduling his interview to air simultaneously with the Republican debate, as well as his ultra-softball treatment of Trump -- not asking anything meaningful about vaccines, lockdowns, Dr Fauci, releasing criminals from prison based on Kim K’s wishes etc -- that Tucker was doing everything in his power to get Trump elected.
Does Trump know that Tucker just said that Trump is too old to be President? Trump doesn’t know a lot about most things, so perhaps he has missed this vital fact out of so many. However, why isn’t this a bigger deal in the nomination contest more broadly? Tucker is THE major Republican King-maker at this point, as far as a media person is concerned -- and for good reason. Tucker is interesting and fearless -- except when interviewing Trump.
It’s almost as if there is a broader conspiracy at work, among media of most stripes, to ensure that Trump becomes the Republican nominee. Gee, I wonder why.
It would appear everyone knows what to do, but is afraid to do so. Both leading contenders have had their day - younger talent has to come through, and this is the opportunity.
If Joe O'Biden or DJ Trump's team think this is a way to help the USA, they need to think again.
